Scouts

Scouts are agile and stealthy monsters adept at navigating through difficult terrain and preferring to remain at a distance, lobbing deadly abilities past their guardians.

Scouts often engage in guerrilla tactics, disrupting enemy plans with surprise attacks and sabotage.

Scouts tend to fall into the species of Bandits, Fae, Goblins, Lizardmen and Wyrms.

Bandits

Bandits are known for their lawless behavior and ruthless tactics, since they’re typically army deserters or other societal outcasts. They roam the countryside preying on the weak and unprotected. 

Life as a bandit is one of constant conflict and danger, leading to a hardened demeanor. They prefer attacking from a distance, using ranged weapons to pick off their targets before they can react. 

They band together out of necessity, forming close-knit groups that look out for each other. This bond is often the only semblance of order in their chaotic lives, as they navigate the dangers of both the law and rival gangs. While they are feared and despised by most, some see bandits as a necessary evil.

Fae

Graceful and otherworldly with insect-like wings and skin that glows in the moonlight, fae creatures inhabit the natural places of the world. Deeply thoughtful and intelligent, but territorial and mischievous, fae are best left alone but often come into conflict with warriors on the field of battle.

Preferring to remain at a safe distance, fae will relentlessly pepper foes with arrows, magic, and in some cases magic arrows. They are difficult to pin down and despite their relative frailty, some say they could outlast a slower or more clumsy opponent. 

Because of their beauty, fae are usually thought of as goodly creatures but just as often as they are kind they can be capricious and vengeful, using their magic to curse man and beast alike for any perceived slight.

 

Goblins

Goblins are small humanoids known for their mischievous nature. Often found in scattered tribes throughout the wilds, they have a reputation for being both a nuisance and a serious threat to travelers and settlements alike. 

Goblins often carry an assortment of bombs which they gleefully hurl at their enemies, causing confusion amongst their enemies. Goblins are also adept at using traps, guerilla tactics, and hit-and-run strategies to wear down their enemies. 

Their small size and nimbleness allow them to navigate through tight spaces and ambush unsuspecting targets. Goblins often work in groups, coordinating their attacks and overwhelming foes with a barrage of explosives. 

Lizardmen

Lizardmen are known to inhabit the wilds, where they have adapted to their harsh environment with remarkable resilience. Their society is tribal, led by the strongest and most cunning among them, and they value strength and survival above all else. 

Lizardmen are fiercely territorial and will savagely defend what is theirs, though they have been known to work alongside other species.

They typically hunt by hurling spears and other projectiles, though they’re more than capable of defending themselves with fang and claw if need be. While their savage appearance and brutal methods might suggest a lack of sophistication, lizardmen are cunning and resourceful, capable of intricate battle plans and coordinated attacks. 

 

Wyrms

Vile predators with sinuous bodies and scales that glisten with fetid promise, wyrms are everything a dragon could be, were it a petty beast. Petulant and vindictive, these creatures are known to go out of their way to cause strife simply out of spite. 

Preferring to attack at a distance, wyrms lay into their prey with caustic spit and potent spells. A wyrm will often play with its food, loading it down with as many maladies as possible before hanging back to enjoy its cries of horror as its body rots and fails from within.

Despite this loathsome attitude, wyrms are especially intelligent and strategic in combat, choosing difficult-to-reach lairs and having plenty of exit strategies. Wyrms prefer weaker prey out of an attitude of entitlement, acting quite like a fatted aristocrat plucking up sweets.
